ABTA is the Association of British Travel Agents. It is the UK's largest travel association, protecting consumers rights, as well as representing travel agents and tour operators. ABTA protection is designed to enforce standards and provide insurance for holidaymakers in the event of financial problems for travel companies.
ABTA do many things but the most important is that they have set standards for all their members that are in line with the Package Travel Regulations which ensures consumer rights around travel are protected in addition, the name ABTA means that holidaymakers are afforded protection. ABTA members, like us, are 'ABTA bonded' this bonding is specifically designed to cover holidays brought in the UK that don't include flights. If you buy a land or sea-based package holiday, such as a coach, rail or cruise holiday from an ABTA member, your money and holiday will be protected.
ABTA protection means that, in the unlikely event of ROL Cruise or one of its cruise partners were to cease trading, you would be supported in receiving a refund.
ABTA stops you losing money or becoming stranded abroad if ROL Cruise or one of its cruise partners collapses:
ATOL stands for Air Travel Organiser's License and is backed by the UK Government. It provides support so that you are not at a financial loss or without assistance abroad if your ATOL holder ceases trading.
ATOL protects you when you book a holiday, that has a flight included, with a UK travel company. It ensures that you don't lose money or become stranded if the company used collapses.
ATOL protection means that if ROL Cruise were to cease trading, you would be supported in receiving a refund, being brought home if you are on holiday when the collapse happens or being assisted by another ATOL holder in reorganising your travel arrangements.
ATOL stops you losing money or becoming stranded abroad if ROL Cruise collapses:
ATOL (Air Travel Organiser's Licensing) sits alongside ABTA but is specifically designed to cover those that fly. Whereas ABTA covers rail, road or sea holidays. Many ABTA members may also hold an ATOL license.
We do advise customers to take out travel insurance as not all reasons for cancellation will be covered by ABTA or ATOL.
