Its breathtaking skyline, crowned by the world’s tallest building, is dotted with architectural wonders that capture attention and spark intrigue. Since earning its reputation as being a glamorous destination, Dubai has become a firm favourite amongst travellers around the globe. From its iconic landmarks and impressive architecture to luxury shopping and pristine beaches, the city offers something for every taste. Architecture enthusiasts, in particular, will be mesmerised by the captivating mix of innovative design and traditional influences around every corner. In this guide, we take a look at some of Dubai’s most iconic buildings.

Iconic buildings in Dubai

Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa isn’t just the tallest building in Dubai, it currently holds the title of the tallest in the world too. Located in Downtown Dubai, this impressive architectural marvel was built in 2004 and soars over 828 metres tall (2,716.5 feet). The multi-purpose building houses over 900 residential units, commercial space, two observation decks and fine dining restaurants offering breathtaking views of the city. The top four floors of the structure are reserved for communications and broadcasting. Eleven floors of the Burj Khalifa are occupied by the luxurious Armani Hotel where world-class elegance meets the sleek design of Giorgio Armani. Each floor radiates sophistication, and with its exclusive grand entrance to The Dubai Mall, guests are treated to an unmatched luxury experience in the heart of Dubai.

Princess Tower

Situated in the Marina district, the Princess Tower was built in 2012 in an attempt to set a precedent for residential towers around the world. Soaring to an astounding 413 meters with 101 storeys, this exclusive residential skyscraper redefines luxury living. Every aspect of the building exudes refinement, from its sleek architectural design to the lavish amenities offered within. Residents are treated to an observation deck on the 97th floor offering spectacular panoramic views of the Dubai Marina and the Arabian Gulf. Private entrances, state-of-the-art fitness centres, and swimming pools further enhance the experience of high-rise living in Dubai.

Burj Al Arab

The Burj Al Arab stands as Dubai’s crown jewel, renowned as the city's only self-proclaimed 7-star hotel. Completed in 1999, it was once considered the tallest building in the world with 60 floors, setting new standards for architectural innovation and luxury. The Burj Al Arab is located on an artificial island near Jumeirah Beach and is connected to the mainland by a private bridge. The iconic sail-shaped structure redefines luxury with unparalleled opulence and attention to detail. The hotel offers world-class dining, including an underwater restaurant surrounded by a mesmerising aquarium, and a rooftop helipad for guests arriving in style.

Cayan Tower

A striking feature of the Dubai Marina Skyline, the Cayan Tower is an architectural wonder that spirals gracefully to a height of 306 metres. Before its grand inauguration in 2013, the iconic 75-storey twisting structure was known as the ‘Infinity Tower.’ This architectural masterpiece was thoughtfully designed and constructed to provide breathtaking views from every level while maintaining the waterfront views for residents in surrounding buildings. Cayan Tower is home to chic apartments that have access to an array of incredible amenities including an outdoor infinity pool, a health spa, exercise facilities and much more. On the ground floor level, there are retail facilities too.

Museum of the Future

The Museum of the Future is one of the city’s most famous landmarks often described as being the gateway to a future world. Brought to life by visionary designers, artists, and filmmakers, this architectural marvel seamlessly blends innovation and creativity, standing as an awe-inspiring symbol of what the future holds. Designed with a bold vision, this groundbreaking project aims to inspire visitors to actively participate in shaping a brighter, more positive future. Inside the futuristic structure, immersive theatre and themed attractions await. Journey to 2071 and be encouraged to pioneer new worlds and ways of living.

Jumeirah Emirates Towers

Situated in the heart of Dubai’s financial district, the Jumeirah Emirates Towers offer impressive views of the city, stylish living spaces and world-class dining options. Located close to Dubai Metro and the Dubai Mall, the towers are situated in a prime location. Upon completion in 2000, the Jumeirah Emirates Towers were considered the third tallest pair of buildings in the world. The office tower is the taller of the two, reaching an impressive height of 350 meters, while its twin stands at 305 meters.
