Join ROL Cruise customers and competition winners Mr and Mrs Evans as they sail aboard Queen Mary 2
Published on 18 Jul 2022
Hi Mr and Mrs Evans! Congratulations on winning our Cunard competition. How did Cunard differ from other cruise lines you’ve sailed with?
We knew what to expect from Cunard as we were on Queen Victoria when she went around Britain including a maiden call at Liverpool when the crowds and bands came out to see us in and out of port.
For over 180 years, Cunard has set the bar and then raised it. Their rich history, unrivalled seafaring knowledge and traditional fleet of ships differentiate them from other cruise lines. Queen Anne, who will launch in 2024, will extend Cunard for future generations, offering even more opportunities to sail the world in comfort and style.
Tell us about the food! Where did you dine on Queen Mary 2?
We dined in the Britannia Restaurant, The Golden Lion Pub and Kings Court Buffet all of which were excellent. The problem with the Britannia Restaurant was that they had lobster tails and beef wellington on the same menu meaning my wife had the lobster, expertly served separating the shell from the meat and I had the beef cooked exactly as ordered.
The extraordinary culinary experiences that await you on Queen Mary 2, Cunard’s flagship, are guaranteed to leave you wanting more. Enjoy a regular reservation at your stateroom’s restaurant, indulge in world flavours at Kings Court or, for an additional supplement, savour a prime cut at Steakhouse at The Verandah.
Cunard is renowned for its impeccable service! What were the staff like?
The staff were excellent from the welcome on board at the gangway in Southampton throughout the trip and could not be faulted.
Cunard’s attentive crew, who are trained at the White Star Academy, take great pride in making every passenger's experience on board unforgettable, focusing on the little details that make a big difference. Dating back to 1929, the White Star Service is a legacy of Cunard's history, honouring the golden era of the White Star Line.
You stayed in a balcony cabin. Could you tell us a bit more about it, please?
Our balcony cabin was very spacious and comfortable with easy access to the balcony which, unfortunately, we did not get as much use as we would have liked due to the weather.
Cunard boasts some of the most spacious staterooms at sea and each one comes with an extensive list of services, features and amenities for you to enjoy. The Britannia Club Balcony stateroom that Mr and Mrs Evans enjoyed, features a desk, seating area, king-size bed and a spacious balcony with a table and chairs. Guests can enjoy elevated features such as priority embarkation and disembarkation, complimentary water, speciality tea and coffee-making facilities alongside Cunard’s signature touches.
Lastly, what was the most memorable part of your cruise?
Other than all of the above the most memorable part of the cruise was Stavanger and the wonderful tour guide on the countryside shore trip.
