A guide to cruise ship gratuities

Whether you’re a first-time cruiser or a seasoned veteran, you may have questions about gratuities and tipping on your cruise. But don’t worry, we’re here to help! Cruise ship gratuities differ from cruise line to cruise line. To help, we’ve put together this handy guide to cruise ship gratuities, split by cruise lines for ease: 

Ambassador Cruise Line operates an automatic service charge and gratuity system whereby an amount is automatically added per person per night to your onboard account. 

Gratuities are included for all APT Cruising-operated tours. There are a few activities whereby tipping is not included but your Sales Consultant can provide detailed advice during the booking process. 

Azamara includes gratuities in the price of its cruises. The cruise line does not charge an additional daily service charge, however, if you wish to reward a particular crew member with a tip, you may. 

Celebrity Cruises automatically adds gratuities to guests onboard SeaPass® account. Automatic daily gratuities may be adjusted at the guest’s discretion onboard at Guest Relations. 

Celestyal Cruises includes gratuities in the price of its cruises. 

Cunard automatically adds a hotel and dining service charge to your onboard account. Should you wish to individually reward any other crew member, you’re welcome to do so. 

Emerald Cruises include all gratuities in the price of your cruise to provide you with complete peace of mind. 

Emerald Yacht Cruises include all gratuities in the price of your cruise to provide you with complete peace of mind. 

Gratuities are not included in the cost of your Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines holiday. Instead, gratuities are charged per person per day for guests aged 12 and over but tipping is entirely at your discretion. 

Holland America Line automatically adds Crew Appreciation to your onboard account. 

It is not common practice to tip on Hurtigruten Coastal Express but if you feel that crew members should be rewarded, tip boxes are available onboard.

Oceania Cruises automatically adds gratuities to your shipboard account. 

Gratuities are included in the price of a P&O Cruises holiday meaning tipping isn’t required onboard. 

Princess Cruises automatically adds Crew Appreciation to your onboard account. 

Onboard gratuities are included in the cruise fare for all Regent Seven Seas Cruises voyages. 

Royal Caribbean International adds an automatic per-person per-day service gratuity for all guests. 

Every cruise with Saga Ocean Cruises includes gratuities in the price of the voyage fare. 

On all Scenic Ocean Cruises’, gratuities are included in your cruise fare. This includes gratuities for your butler and crew, as well as tips for onshore activities. 

On all Scenic River Cruises’, gratuities are included in your cruise fare. This includes gratuities for your butler and crew, as well as tips for onshore activities. 

Gratuities are included in the price of your Seabourn cruise. 

Gratuities are included in the price of your Silversea cruise. 

Gratuities onboard a Star Clippers cruise are not included in the cruise fare and are at the discretion of each passenger. 

Gratuities for Uniworld River Cruises’ onboard personnel are included during your cruise.
