The cruise lines and ships that have featured on Cruising with Susan Calman
Published on 23 Nov 2022
Susan Calman shot to fame in 2006 after reaching the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards. Since then, she has turned her hand to writing, presenting, acting and even dancing on the popular BBC show, Strictly Come Dancing. Susan took over Cruising with Jane McDonald in April 2022 and has been lucky enough to sail with a number of fabulous cruise lines. Here, we take a look at the ships that appeared in the first series of Cruising with Susan Calman:
In the first and second episodes of Cruising with Susan Calman, Susan sails on a 12-night Canary Islands cruise aboard Regal Princess. Embarking in Southampton, she sails to the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote before heading to Madeira and the Spanish port of Vigo.
During her time on board the MedallionClass Regal Princess, Susan tries her hand at cocktail flaring, gets involved with flower arranging for a wedding at sea, enjoys a pampering session and serves afternoon tea in The Sanctuary. She also uses Princess Cruises’ Medallion, a ten pence piece-sized wearable device that enables features such as expedited contactless boarding and locating friends and family anywhere on the ship, as well as enhanced services including having food, drinks and retail items delivered to wherever guests are onboard.
In episodes three and four of the first series of Cruising with Susan Calman, Susan boards Harmony of the Seas, which once boasted the title of ‘the largest cruise ship in the world.’ Departing from Barcelona, Susan sails across the Mediterranean to Palma de Mallorca, Spain and Italian wonders Rome, Lucca and Naples.
During her time onboard one of Royal Caribbean International’s renowned Oasis Class ships, Susan scales one of the two 40-foot-tall rock climbing walls, catches waves on FlowRider and quenches her thirst with a drink served by robots at the Bionic Bar. She explores the ship and its variety of one-of-a-kind amenities to showcase the first-hand experience of a signature Royal Caribbean cruise.
In episodes five and six of the first series of Cruising with Susan Calman, Susan sets off on a 10-night adventure aboard Eurodam, Holland America Line’s Signature Class ship. Sailing from Fort Lauderdale to the cruise line’s private island, Half Moon Cay, Susan then visits the small Dutch Caribbean islands of Aruba and Curacao before voyaging through the Panama Canal and calling at Costa Rica.
While onboard, Susan enjoys the five-star amenities of Eurodam, whose mid-size provides the friendly and intimate feel Holland America Line is so well known for. She also spends time getting to know her fellow guests and experiences some thrilling adventures ashore.
