Today was my first full day onboard and I woke up feeling excited and ready to start exploring all Queen Mary 2 had to offer.
After breakfast, I decided to take to the Promenade Deck where I was told that, to complete 1 mile, I would need to do 3 laps. I thought this was more than enough to work off breakfast!
This afternoon, we decided that a pub lunch was exactly what we needed - so we took a trip to the Golden Lion. Everything on the menu looked great! I went for the fish and chips and I must say, they were the nicest I think I’ve ever had.
After all the food I had already eaten, I really needed to work up an appetite as we had Afternoon Tea booked at 3.30 pm and I really wanted to make the most of it. This was an experience I was really looking forward to and I was not disappointed, I mean who doesn’t want to be served Afternoon Tea by white-gloved waiters? That’s what I call White Star Service!
We took to our seats and the excitement rose. The string quartet playing in the background really set the scene and before we knew it, the white-gloved waiters entered the Queens Room in a procession carrying silver pots of tea, it was almost like a dance.
The Queens Room is the perfect space to hold such an event - the ambience oozes opulence and you really do feel that you’re experiencing an event fit for a queen. With perfectly formed sandwiches and delicious cakes that are to die for and not forgetting the scones that were still warm, this was an experience that I will never forget and can totally understand why this is one of those travel bucket list experiences.
This evening was the black and white ball and the first of three formal nights. It was so lovely to see everyone dressed up in their finery - something that you don’t often get the chance to do.
After dinner, we all moved to the Queen's Room to continue our evening of elegance with the Queens Room Orchestra. As we sipped our drinks, we watched in awe at all the dance enthusiasts who were gliding around the dance floor - which is also one of the largest dance floors at sea.
After a long day of pretty much eating every hour, I decided it was time for bed and my comfortable king-sized bed was calling. Others, however, decided to hit G32, Queen Mary 2’s nightclub.
