Discover Borealis’ incredible range of complimentary and speciality dining options

Published on 19 Jul 2024

Originally part of Holland America Line’s line-up, Borealis officially joined the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines fleet in 2021. Since then, she has been a firm favourite with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ passengers, in many parts due to her smaller size and traditional onboard feel. Though she may be small, she is mighty and her size doesn’t stop her from offering a plethora of fantastic restaurants. Here, we take a look at Borealis’ impressive range of dining options:

Restaurants on Borealis

Complimentary dining options:

  • Borealis and Aurora
  • The Arctic Room
  • The Poolside Café
  • The View

Borealis and Aurora

Deck 4 and Deck 5

Borealis and Aurora are Borealis’ tastefully decorated and spacious two-tiered main dining options. Situated on Deck 4 and Deck 5 respectively, the restaurants serve expertly created a la carte dishes, prepared and cooked by a talented team of chefs. Expect perfectly cooked steaks, freshly-made soups and delicious pasta.

The Arctic Room

Deck 5

Located on Deck 5, leading off from Aurora, The Arctic Room is a great option for intimate meals. The room is beautifully decorated with shades of blue and grey to reflect the nature of the Arctic and is adorned with hand-picked artwork.  It’s also used for hosting breakfasts and lunches with Fred. Olsen’s line-up of specialist speakers.

The Poolside Café

Deck 8

Situated on Deck 8, next to Borealis’ swimming pool, The Poolside Café is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite to eat in between relaxing on loungers and taking a dip in the pool. Here, you can enjoy a leisurely late breakfast or a selection of light bites until 7 pm. Depending on weather conditions, the retractable roof may be open.

The View

Deck 8

The View is Borealis’ buffet restaurant. With a welcoming feel and beautiful views of the ocean, The View offers a more relaxed dining experience. Guests can choose from all kinds of delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner options, plus a tasty complimentary afternoon tea with sandwiches, scones and cakes.

Speciality dining options:

  • Colours & Tastes
  • Vasco

Colours & Tastes

Deck 4

A colourful yet intimate restaurant on Deck 4, Colours & Tastes serves a mesmerising blend of modern Asian Fusion dishes inspired by the flavours of Japan, Thailand, China and the Philippines. Whether you opt for delicately spiced grilled meats, seafood, dim sum or stir fry, each dish offers a new taste experience.

Vasco

Deck 8

Named after Vasco de Gama, the first Europen to reach India by sea, Vasco serves a fresh and modern take on Indian food. Positioned on Deck 8, the menu at Vasco is inspired by Fred. Olsen’s very own Goan chefs who focus on unique culinary traditions. The result is the tropical warmth and spices of Western India mixed with the unique tastes of Europe.
