A spotlight on Seven Seas Explorer’s impressive array of dining options
Published on 07 Oct 2024
When Regent Seven Seas Cruises launched Seven Seas Explorer in 2016, it was dubbed ‘The Most Luxurious Ship Ever Built.’ The ship debuted two new restaurants for the cruise line, Chartreuse and Pacific Rim, while also welcoming back firm favourites Prime 7, Compass Rose, La Veranda, Sette Mari at La Veranda and the Pool Grill. Here, we look at Seven Seas Explorer’s impressive range of dining options in more detail:
Compass Rose, one of Seven Seas Explorer's two main dining rooms, is the perfect setting for breakfast or dinner. The same menu is offered every day for breakfast, but on Sundays, you can enjoy a Champagne and Caviar brunch. At night, Compass Rose serves a multicourse dinner with an expansive menu split into always-available dishes and specials, which change daily. You can also choose from the Executive Chef’s Menu Degustation, which is a six-course tasting menu.
Pacific Rim is Seven Seas Explorer’s pan-Asian offering, serving food from across the continent. Open for dinner only, you can enjoy Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Korean and Vietnamese flavours packaged in perfectly sized portions. On the menu, you can expect to see assorted sushi platters, crispy soft-shell crab tempura, chicken and foie gras gyozas, miso black cod, massaman curry and Thai red chicken curry, to name a few.
Chartreuse is a restaurant on Deck 10 with a modern French menu and decor inspired by Parisian cafés. Like Pacific Rim, Chartreuse is only open for dinner, and you’ll find the same menu here each night. The variety of hors d’oeuvres will wow you, and for your first course, you can choose from a range of dishes like seared scallops, Dover sole and baked lobster tail and scallop mousse. Once done, you’ll get a takeaway box of macarons, a lovely touch to end the experience.
As Regent Seven Seas Cruises' signature steakhouse, Prime 7 elevates classic American fare to lofty heights. Inspired by traditional gentlemen’s clubs, it’s open for lunch and dinner each day and boasts an impressive menu at each sitting. At lunch, enjoy grilled beef burgers and Caesar salads, and at dinner, find yourself tempted by perfectly aged prime New York strips, signature surf and turf, and whole Maine lobster.
La Veranda is Seven Seas Explorer’s buffet option, serving breakfast and lunch each day. Breakfast boasts every item you could possibly think of, while lunch includes a small salad bar, sandwiches and a carving station. At night, La Veranda transforms into Sette Mari at La Veranda, an Italian that perfectly pairs antipasti buffet selections with traditional menu options. Situated at the aft of Deck 11, La Veranda offers alfresco dining, a lovely spot day or night.
Perfectly positioned on Deck 11, the Pool Grill is open for breakfast and lunch each day, serving a menu similar to that of La Veranda. Here, you can enjoy burgers, pizza, sandwiches and wraps. There’s even a small ice cream station, The Creamery, which has sorbet and ice cream, floats, sundaes and shakes. The Pool Grill also serves snacks, like cookies and muffins, from morning until about 6 pm each day.
