Prepare for adventure ahead of time
Published on 12 Jul 2024
Whether you’re an experienced cruiser or about to head off on your first voyage, it’s important to be prepared before you depart for adventure. One such way is finding out which currency your chosen cruise line accepts onboard. Doing so will allow you to plan accordingly and reduce the opportunity for any confusion once away. Here, we detail the four cruise lines that accept Pound Sterling:
Ambassador Cruise Line prides itself on consistently offering the best possible value. So guests can avoid exchange rates and sail at an affordable price, Ambassador Cruise Line’s onboard currency is Pound Sterling.
Included in the price of your Ambassador Cruise Line cruise are accommodation, dining, onboard entertainment and activities, a range of fitness, dance and wellness classes, access to fitness facilities and the spa and luggage porterage. Not included are drinks packages, gratuities, shore excursions, shopping and laundry so it might be an idea to hold back a little cash.
Though Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines originated in Norway, the cruise line’s onboard currency is Pound Sterling. The currency you need during your cruise will depend on the destinations you sail to, but should you need to purchase currency onboard, you can do so at Guest Services. Guest Services can be found on Deck 6 on Balmoral, Deck 4 on Bolette and Deck 4 on Borealis.
Accommodations, dining, self-service tea and coffee in selected venues, in-cabin dining and snacks, all evening entertainment, use of leisure facilities, a wide choice of onboard activities, UK port taxes and luggage porterage are all included in the cost of your cruise. But drinks packages, speciality restaurants, shore excursions, spa and beauty treatments, laundry, Wi-Fi and gratuities aren’t, so it’s good to have some cash just in case.
As Britain’s favourite cruise line, it’s no wonder P&O Cruises' onboard currency is Pound Sterling. P&O Cruises operates a cash-free environment. You will need to register your credit card or debit card at check-in and then, during your cruise, you’ll only need your cruise card to make purchases onboard.
P&O Cruises include accommodations, dining, entertainment, onboard activities and flights and transfers (where applicable) in the price of their cruises. However, drinks packages, speciality dining, shore excursions, spa and beauty treatments, fitness classes, some onboard activities (like Mission Control and Altitude Skywalk on Arvia), shopping and Wi-Fi are not.
Saga Ocean Cruises is one of the most inclusive cruise lines out there. Included travel insurance, return UK chauffeur service, fine dining, all-inclusive drinks, shore excursions, unlimited luggage allowance porterage, Wi-Fi, onboard gratuities, 24-hour room service, entertainment, onboard activities, fitness classes and use of fitness facilities, access to the spa and port taxes, fees and charges are all included in your Saga cruise.
Like P&O Cruises, Saga Ocean Cruises operate a cashless system onboard. To make purchases during your cruise, you’ll just need your cabin key card. Your purchases will be charged to your onboard account which you can settle at the end of your voyage.
