How to spend a day on Borealis
Published on 20 Nov 2024
Borealis, the sister ship to Bolette, joined the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines fleet in 2020. When she joined, she was beautifully redecorated and refurbished to enhance her charm. Onboard, you’ll find a variety of inviting lounges, stylish bars, elegant restaurants, and spacious open deck areas, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the views. Here’s a daily schedule of things to do onboard for every type of traveller:
Located in the beating heart of Borealis, you’ll find a fantastic range of shops filled with everything you may need during your time on board. Choose something special from the Jewellery Shop, treat yourself to perfume or aftershave at the Boutique Shop or grab Fred. Olsen branded merchandise to take home as a souvenir.
The Card Room on Deck 5 is a quiet space for guests to enjoy a competitive hand or two. With an abundance of card tables and comfortable chairs, you’re certain to find other guests who are up for a challenge. On some cruises, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines hosts Bridge experts who are on hand to help you develop your skills.
What could be better than sipping your favourite drink alongside the soothing tones of jazz music? The Piano Bar on Deck 5 is the perfect venue to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or a post-show nightcap as the resident musicians take their seats at the piano. Folk and jazz music will fill the air as you relax into comfortable seating.
At The Auditorium, guests can enjoy an impressive lineup of educational interactive events. No matter where you sit in this spacious venue, you’ll have great views of the stage area and the experts that grace its boards. The Auditorium hosts Treats of the Region, which is ideal for watching talented chefs create delicious dishes.
Room service on Borealis makes dining in your cabin easy and enjoyable. Start your day with a continental breakfast, ordered in advance and delivered at your chosen time. Snacks are available from 10 am, and full room service meals can be ordered until 11 pm daily. Choose from a menu of delicious options, like freshly prepared pizzas or club sandwiches.
Situated on Deck 8, next to Borealis’ swimming pool, The Poolside Café is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite to eat in between relaxing on loungers and taking a dip in the pool. Here, you can enjoy a selection of light bites. Depending on weather conditions, the retractable roof may be open.
With its premium selection of gins and perfectly paired tonics, the always-buzzing Ocean Bar is a great spot to grab a pre-dinner cocktail before heading off to Colours & Tastes. The inviting, spacious and sociable bar is also a great place to listen to music and dance the night away in the very best of company.
A colourful yet intimate restaurant on Deck 4, Colours & Tastes serves a mesmerising blend of modern Asian Fusion dishes inspired by the flavours of Japan, Thailand, China and the Phillippines. Whether you opt for delicately spiced grilled meats, seafood, dim sum or stir fry, each dish offers a new taste experience.
Expressing yourself creatively is an incredibly therapeutic pastime. What better way to start your day of relaxation than at The Olsen Art Studio? Whether you’re an aspiring artist or completely new to the world of crafting, the light and airy studio is filled with materials for a variety of projects. What’s more, classes are regularly hosted by different instructors.
The Atlantis Spa is the perfect place to relax and unwind. With large picture windows offering stunning ocean views, it’s a serene setting for total relaxation. The spa team will pamper you with a wide range of luxurious treatments, including massages, manicures, pedicures, relaxation therapies and hairdressing.
The two jacuzzis on Borealis are perfect for relaxation, whether you’re soaking up the sun or enjoying a good book. Located next to the pool and surrounded by open deck space with plenty of loungers, they offer a great spot to unwind. Let the warm, bubbling water melt your cares away as you chat with fellow guests and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
The Observatory offers stunning views through its panoramic windows, located right above the Bridge. You’ll enjoy the same incredible vantage point as the Captain, with sights of vast oceans as you sail. In the evening, the space comes alive with live bands, perfect for singing and dancing.
