Jennie Bond: My first impressions of Queen Anne

Here, Cruise Miles® ambassador Jennie Bond shares her first impressions of Queen Anne

Published on 20 May 2024

Hi Jennie! You were one of the first to step aboard Queen Anne. What were your first impressions?

It’s always so exciting to board a brand new ship and Queen Anne was gleaming, spacious and hugely welcoming. Everything smelled so new! A Cunard Queen always feels like home to me and there is a wonderful familiarity about this elegant ship, combined with clever innovations and surprises.

The choice of restaurants is impressive, with Japanese and Indian food on offer as well as more traditional fare in the Grills and Britannia dining rooms.

As a big Cunard fan, how did you feel Queen Anne compared to her sisters? How did the design differ?

It feels a bit more contemporary and although it takes a few hundred more passengers than Queen Mary 2, it doesn’t seem so big. It seemed easy to navigate our way around and there were some cosy corners along the way. The Grill dining rooms were light and airy and the Britannia restaurant was dazzling.

And, of course, there is a fabulous library onboard… always one of our favourite areas!

Queen Anne debuted a lot of ‘firsts’ for Cunard. What was your favourite new area onboard?

I’d love to try my hand at Pickleball, it seems to be a new craze! And there’s archery onboard too… another first.

The Pavilion heated pool was a deep indigo blue, which looked different and very inviting. And the theatre, with no upper circle, but tiered and seating over 800 people, is extremely comfortable and feels incredibly spacious. I like the new design with the audience all together rather than divided into two levels.

Would you book a Queen Anne cruise for your personal holiday? If so, which itinerary would you choose?

Absolutely! Any voyage onboard this beautiful new ship would be a complete delight. It would be awesome to go through the Panama Canal on her - that’s happening as part of the world cruise next year. It will be a tight squeeze and a wonderful experience, I’m sure.
