Last month, ROL Cruise Ambassadors John and Liz Schultz sailed aboard APT Cruising’s new contemporary river ship, Travelmarvel Polaris. Here, they share their experience:
Sailing on the 8-day Reflections of the Rhine river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest, we were immediately impressed with the quality of this 4★ river ship.
APT Travelmarvel’s contemporary river ships have been specifically designed to navigate the rivers of Europe. The staterooms on board were all of the highest standards. Our stateroom felt spacious and bright, providing the perfect home from home for the duration of our cruise.
A particular highlight for us was the quality of the service and food we experienced on board. During our time onboard Travelmarvel Polaris, we got to experience either the four-course evening menu comprising of fresh local cuisine, or we could opt for a more relaxed buffet-style dinner.
The onboard facilities were second to none. Whilst on board, we enjoyed Travelmarvel Polaris’ Sky Deck Terrace and Bar whilst relaxing with a gin and tonic and watching the ever-changing scenery. In the evening, there was plenty of opportunity to enjoy a range of entertainment and activities. We were certainly never bored!
Our Cruise Director excelled with his knowledge of the river, something that proved incredibly valuable - especially if we had any questions about the towns we were sailing past or docked in.
The included excursions were interesting and varied. The visit to Rudesheim after sailing through the Rhine Gorge was a real experience. Our favourite excursion was the visit to Wurzburg Palace, the baroque palace and gardens were so enjoyable to explore and we also got to see the magnificent church built within the palace.
Whilst in Miltenberg, we had an exceptional afternoon with a local family at their magnificent home, where we enjoyed their hospitality for a couple of hours and afternoon tea.
Our experience from start to finish was incredibly memorable and we cannot recommend Travelmarvel Polaris enough. We can honestly say, if you’re looking to relax and be spoilt whilst enjoying top-quality food, drink and service, then you won’t be disappointed. Thank you to all at APT Cruising.
