Recently, my colleague Poppy and I had the pleasure of spending the day onboard Celebrity Apex, a remarkable cruise ship now homeporting from Southampton for the summer, taking over from Celebrity Silhouette. Our journey began with an impressively swift embarkation at Southampton, setting the tone for a day filled with luxury and innovation.
Our first stop was Eden on Deck 6, a grand venue that instantly captivated me with its floor-to-ceiling windows, offering stunning sea views. As we sipped on freshly brewed coffee and savoured delectable pastries, we couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to the serene ocean surroundings.
Next, we ascended to the pool deck, a hub of activity and relaxation. The expansive pool, surrounded by numerous sun loungers, invited us to soak up the sun. The nearby bar and grill offered a perfect spot for refreshing drinks and light bites. Here, we also witnessed the marvel of the Magic Carpet. This innovative feature is a floating platform that moves vertically along the ship’s exterior, transforming into a unique venue for various experiences, from an open-air dining space to a tender embarkation area. Its versatility and stunning views make it a standout attraction on Celebrity Apex.
One of the highlights of the ship was the Rooftop Garden on Deck 15, a new and innovative space featuring a huge screen and lush greenery. It was awe-inspiring to see a real garden flourishing at sea, creating a serene oasis perfect for relaxation and entertainment. The blend of nature and technology here is truly remarkable.
Our tour included visits to several of the ship’s distinguished restaurants, each offering a unique culinary journey. The Tuscan Restaurant on Deck 3 brought the flavours of Italy to the forefront, while Normandie, also on Deck 3, provided an exquisite French dining experience. Each venue boasted a menu that promised to delight even the most discerning palate.
The theatre on Celebrity Apex is another testament to the ship’s commitment to excellence. With ample seating and state-of-the-art facilities, it sets the stage for spectacular shows. Although we didn’t get to see a performance, I was informed that the productions are nothing short of incredible, featuring world-class entertainment.
The day concluded with a sumptuous three-course lunch, a culinary highlight that showcased the ship’s exceptional dining standards. From the appetiser to the dessert, each dish was a testament to the skill and creativity of the ship’s culinary team.
In summary, our day aboard Celebrity Apex was an unforgettable experience. The ship seamlessly blends luxury, innovation and comfort, making it a top choice for discerning travellers. Whether you’re relaxing in Eden, enjoying the versatility of the Magic Carpet or dining in one of the many exquisite restaurants, Celebrity Apex promises an extraordinary voyage filled with memorable moments.
