The embarkation process was seamless, with attentive staff guiding us through each step with warmth and efficiency. As I stepped onboard, I was greeted by an awe-inspiring sight: floor-to-ceiling glass windows that allowed natural light to flood the space, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere.
The expansive areas onboard were meticulously designed, offering a perfect blend of luxury and comfort. The contemporary decor, with its elegant furnishings and tasteful art pieces, created an ambience of sophistication. Every detail, from the plush carpets to the polished surfaces, spoke of Silversea’s dedication to providing an extraordinary experience for their guests.
The spaciousness of the ship was immediately apparent. Wide corridors and open-plan public areas made it easy to navigate and explore. The grandeur of the ship was complimented by its thoughtful design, which ensured that even during busy moments, there was never a feeling of being crowded. Silver Ray truly set the stage for an unforgettable journey, right from the moment of embarkation.
The Medallion Suite: A haven of luxury
Staying in the Medallion Suite on Silver Ray was an experience of unparalleled luxury. From the moment I stepped into the suite, it was clear that every detail had been meticulously designed to provide the utmost comfort and elegance. The suite offered ample space, with clever storage solutions that kept everything organised and accessible.
One of the standout features was the deep and luxurious bath, complimented by the largest shower I have ever seen at sea. The bathroom’s design and amenities created a spa-like atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.
An exceptional feature of the suites onboard Silversea is the inclusion of a dedicated butler. The butler's service was impeccable, attending to every need with grace and efficiency. From unpacking my luggage to providing personalised room service and stocking the mini-bar with my preferred selections, the butler’s attention to detail was extraordinary.
One of the most indulgent experiences offered was the Otivm Bath Experience. The butler inquired about my preferred time for the bath and arrived promptly with three different types of bath salts for me to choose from. After selecting my preferred scent (orange blossom), the butler ran the bath to the perfect temperature, lit candles and popped open a bottle of champagne, creating a truly luxurious and relaxing experience.
The suite was equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including tablets that allowed me to book dining reservations and shore excursions and even control the lighting and temperature of the suite. These tablets also provided access to my itinerary and a host of other features, making my stay even more convenient and enjoyable. The entertainment options were abundant, with two TVs offering the latest blockbusters and a wide selection of other programmes.
The spacious walk-in wardrobe was another highlight, complete with plush bathrobes and slippers, an umbrella for unexpected weather and a dressing area with a ring light mirror that made getting ready for the evening an enjoyable experience.
Overall, the Medallion Suite on Silver Ray provided a perfect blend of luxury, comfort and convenience, making it an unforgettable part of the voyage.
Culinary excellence aboard Silver Ray: A gastronomic journey
Dining aboard Silver Ray is a culinary adventure that rivals some of the world’s finest restaurants. With a selection of 10 dining venues, each meticulously designed and offering its own unique style and menu, I was spoiled for choice with opulent and luxurious culinary experiences.
On my first evening onboard, I was drawn to La Terrazza on Deck 4, a celebration of modern Italian cuisine. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I knew I was in for a treat. The intimate modern setting, with the option to dine al fresco in good weather, set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. I savoured a delicious tomato pasta dish followed by the most succulent Fillet Mignon I’ve ever tasted, each bite bursting with flavour and expertly prepared.
On my next evening, eager to experience the renowned Silver Note on Deck 5, I was initially disappointed to find it fully booked. However, thanks to the exceptional service of my butler, a table was secured for me, much to my delight. Silver Note transported me back to the golden era of dinner and dancing, with a live jazz band and singers serenading guests as we sampled delicate tapas-style dishes with a gourmet twist. The five courses I enjoyed were truly out of this world, from the Confit Duck Rillettes to the exquisite pavlova, each dish a masterpiece of flavour and presentation.
Another standout dining venue is the incomparable Marquee on Deck 10, home to The Grill serving delectable burgers and salads during the day. While at night, you can indulge in the interactive experience of cooking your own meal on hot volcanic rocks, all while enjoying the breathtaking views of the open sea.
Overall, dining aboard Silver Ray is an unrivalled experience, with each restaurant offering its own unique ambience, cuisine and exceptional service. Whether enjoying a taste of Italy at La Terrazza, being transported to a bygone era at Silver Note or savouring the delights of Marquee, I was treated to a culinary journey like no other.
A toast to luxury: Exploring Silver Ray’s bars
On Silver Ray, the art of mixology takes centre stage and nowhere is this more evident than at the S.A.L.T. Bar. Embracing the S.A.L.T. concept, this bar offers locally inspired cocktails and drinks tailored to the destination the ship is currently exploring. The barmen are true magicians of their craft, infusing every cocktail with a touch of theatre and flair. Here, I savoured the famous Silver Ray cocktail, a signature blend that embodies the essence of luxury and adventure.
For a touch of glamour and breathtaking views, I sought out the Dusk Bar. With its open-air sky bar vibes and panoramic vistas, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a pre-or post-dinner drink. My personal favourite, the Queen’s Crown cocktail, perfectly complimented the ambience of this enchanting venue.
The Observation Lounge on Deck 10 offers a different kind of experience, with its magnificent library and spectacular ocean views. By day, it’s a sanctuary for those seeking quiet contemplation or simply wishing to immerse themselves in a good book while sipping on a perfectly crafted drink. By night, it’s a hive of activity with fabulous live music, where you can dance the night away.
The Pool Bar, nestled on the sun-kissed pool deck, is a true delight for the senses. Here, I found myself indulging in many a cocktail while basking in the warm sun and enjoying the refreshing poolside atmosphere. The Southside, Buzz & Blossom and Mai Thai were just a few of the tantalising options that left me craving more.
However, my heart truly belonged to the Arts Cafe. This versatile space seamlessly transitions from morning to night, offering speciality teas, coffees and pastries in the early hours, transforming into a vibrant hub for socialising as the day unfolds. Its inviting ambience and impeccable service make it a favourite among guests, including myself.
In every sip and every setting, the bars aboard Silver Ray elevate the art of imbibing to new heights, offering an unforgettable experience that perfectly complements the luxury and elegance of the voyage.
Indulgence reimagined: The Otivm Spa experience
During my time aboard Silver Ray, I had the pleasure of experiencing the Otivm Spa, a sanctuary of tranquillity and rejuvenation that harks back to the luxury and opulence of ancient Rome. From the moment I entered, I was captivated by the Italian finishes and elegant marble features that created an atmosphere of timeless elegance.
One of the highlights of my spa visit was the sauna, which offered breathtaking views of the sea. As I sat in the luxurious warmth, gazing out at the endless ocean, I felt a profound sense of peace and relaxation. It was a surreal experience, being enveloped in the soothing heat while the vastness of the sea stretched out before me.
The heated wellness pool was another indulgent feature that I thoroughly enjoyed. Surrounded by exquisite marble and bathed in soft, ambient lighting, the pool provided a perfect setting for unwinding. Floating in the warm waters, I could feel the stress and tension melting away, replaced by a sense of utter tranquillity.
The steam room was equally luxurious, offering a therapeutic escape with its gentle, enveloping steam. I could feel the detoxifying effects as I breathed in the warm, moist air, leaving me feeling refreshed and revitalised.
The Otivm Spa experience on Silver Ray was nothing short of extraordinary. Every element, from the design to the amenities, is crafted to provide the ultimate in relaxation and luxury. It was a personal haven where I could escape, rejuvenate and truly indulge in the opulence of Silver Ray.

Despite being a new ship, the staff’s experience from previous roles within the Silveresa fleet ensured that everything ran seamlessly. Their professionalism and expertise shone through in every interaction, earning praise even from seasoned travellers. As an American friend I met onboard aptly put it, “That is how an inaugural should be done!”
One of the most striking aspects of Silver Ray is its spaciousness. With only 728 guests on board, there is ample room to spread out and enjoy every corner of the ship. Whether lounging on comfortable chairs, reclining on sun loungers or dining in one of the many options available, guests never feel crowded or overwhelmed. In fact, it’s worth noting that if all 728 guests were to stand on the pool deck simultaneously, they would still have an incredible 6 square metres of space each - a testament to the ship’s thoughtful design and commitment to guest comfort.
