Join our Director of Commercial, Gemma, as she’s given an exclusive look at Queen Anne
Published on 09 Oct 2023
At the Fincantieri Shipyard in Venice, 1,000 employees are working 24/7 to build Cunard’s 249th ship, Queen Anne. And on Thursday the 5th of October, our Director of Commercial, Gemma, was given the unmissable opportunity to see her in all her glory. Here’s what she saw on the newest queen to join the fleet:
This area of the ship is already taking shape and will offer impressive sea views at the aft of Queen Anne. The Panorama Pool Club will be the ideal spot to soak up the sunshine and with a full waiter service, you can enjoy a freshly made cocktail.
Located at the forward of the ship, you’ll be able to find the perfect vantage point to enjoy spectacular views with a signature Cunard cocktail in hand.
The Pavilion will no doubt be a favourite spot on Queen Anne, with a glass dome retractable roof created by the same designer as the glass pyramid at the Louvre. The pool area and hot tubs are already in place and will make a great spot to relax with a book. There will also be a stage and screen offering an open-air theatre and cinema.
Making its debut on Queen Anne, the wellness studio will offer regular fitness classes. You can already picture yourself in this area of the ship taking part in a relaxing yoga class on the top deck.
This area will be exclusive to the Princess Grill and Queens Grill suite guests, where a range of seating will provide a spot for sunbathing, reading or enjoying a cold drink and nibbles. You can already see the cabana area which will be filled with comfy loungers so you can relax on deck after lunch.
For those looking to keep fit whilst at sea, there will be a large gym area onboard. The Fitness Centre will be complete with cardio machines, free weights, a sprung floor, a spin class studio and access to personal trainers.
The Thermal Pool in the Mareel Spa is already in place and will be an inviting area to treat yourself. I also had a sneak peek of the Steam Room which has a unique curved shape. Throughout the ship, you’ll find circular and oval shapes are a common theme in the design and create a unique flow throughout Queen Anne.
A favourite spot on all Cunard ships the Queens Room evokes a timeless romance of ocean travel and is the social hub of the ship. The oval dancefloor shape is already visible and it won’t be long before guests are enjoying the signature afternoon tea accompanied by the soothing tones of a string quartet.
The Royal Court Theatre will be a spectacular area of the ship where guests will be wowed with shows and educated with fascinating lectures. You can see the stage area under construction and with seating that will offer an unobstructed view for all, this will no doubt be another highlight of Queen Anne.
Throughout the tour of Queen Anne, a common theme is large windows creating lots of natural light which you can see in the Library. It’s an ideal location for when you want a quiet space to read while you relax on a sea day.
The Chart Room on Queen Anne will be the largest of any Cunard ship. Soft furnishings, dark wood and ambient lighting - often with a backdrop of live jazz - make for an inviting space that captures the romance of ocean travel. Whether it’s a quiet drink for two or an impromptu cocktail tasting with new friends, the Chart Room adds a special something to every occasion.
Adorned in calming tones that are reminiscent of the four seasons, be swept away by the inviting atmosphere that awaits in the Britannia Restaurant. Offering a generous menu of exquisite dishes and wines to match, as well as the famous White Star Service that Cunard is known for, every evening becomes an event in itself at this beautiful venue.
The exclusive Princess Grill Restaurant will offer an exquisite and unforgettable dining experience. You’ll be met with an array of tempting choices to delight the tastebuds and pique your curiosity for the next course.
The Queens Grill Restaurant is truly the epitome of luxurious, intimate dining. With a stellar menu and an atmosphere to match, enjoy the ultimate in sophistication and exclusivity.
Inspired by legendary Cunard Commodores who have expertly captained the Cunard fleet over the years, this charming bar offers an ideal setting in which to enjoy an early evening aperitif or an after-dinner nightcap. You can see from the large windows that this will be the perfect venue to savour sweeping views as you sip on a cocktail, a classic fine wine or a premium aged whisky, prepared with signature flair and served at your table.
