Staff stories: Silver Nova is one of a kind

Silver Nova is Silversea’s newest and now largest ship in the fleet and I was lucky enough to experience all of her incredible amenities recently on a 3-night sailing from Venice.

The first thing I noticed was how different she was from the rest of the Silversea fleet. Silver Nova feels so spacious and her floor-to-ceiling glass windows mean guests can enjoy ocean or destination views from nearly all of the public venues. As I wandered around, I found so many smaller, more intimate areas to sit and have a drink or soak up the glorious sunshine.

Here are my favourite things onboard Silver Nova:

The Pool Deck

Deck 10

Silver Nova’s incredible pool is offset slightly to the starboard side with glass running alongside it, meaning it’s not like traditional pool decks. Your view as you relax is the beautiful tranquil pool and the view of your destination coming into focus. On the opposite side of the pool is the Pool Bar and above that, the cliff hot tub.

The Pool Deck and surrounding areas boast 280 sun loungers, so there are lots of wonderful intimate spaces where you could find a sanctuary to relax. I can’t imagine it ever being too busy, even at full capacity.

The Marquee

Deck 10

Silver Nova has eight incredible dining venues. The Marquee has an amazing alfresco feel to it - it rivals a luxury land resort. It is positioned just off the aft of the ship and is covered by a white pergola-style roof which opens the area up to the elements while offering enough shade on warm days. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and at night, offers the exclusive Silversea hot rocks experience.

S.A.L.T.

Decks 3 and 10

Silversea’s unique concept is even more enhanced onboard Silver Nova. S.A.L.T stands for ‘Sea and Land Taste’. It’s a concept that allows guests to really immerse themselves in local gastronomy.

Silversea has truly captured the ethos of eating like a local by teaming up with local chefs and restaurants in all of the destinations they visit and offering one-off experiences as shore experiences. Think wine tasting on Mount Etna or private pizza-making experiences and mozzarella sampling in Naples. Back onboard, you can learn to cook like the locals in the S.A.L.T. lab or dine in the S.A.L.T. restaurant where the menu changes with the destination.

Medallion Suites

Deck 8

I was lucky enough to experience a Medallion Suite during my stay aboard Silver Nova. Located on Deck 8, the layout of my suite was perfect and featured a large veranda and a living room with a sofa. I had a separate bedroom which had a large walk-in wardrobe, a bathroom with a separate bath and shower and a double vanity sink.

Every suite on Silver Nova comes with complimentary in-suite dining around the clock, a minibar stocked with whatever you want, plus bathrobes and slippers, a pillow menu, luxury bath amenities and complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi.

I must mention my wonderful butler Marlon who couldn’t do enough for me - he even ran me a bath after I’d been out on a shore excursion.

The staff

The staff on Silversea are well known for being incredible and it was no different on Silver Nova. The staff were incredibly proud and so happy to be part of the new onboard team. It may be due to the new crew areas, which I was lucky enough to go on an exclusive tour of. They have an open deck area, which matches the guests in terms of furnishings, a games room, a staff bar, plus a crew gym and spa. The welfare of the crew felt just as important as the guests!

Silver Nova completely wowed me in every sense. It is a complete game changer in the luxury cruise market with such a modern, light and spacious feel. Silver Nova is one of a kind!
