So, you’ve decided to head off on the adventure of a lifetime alone. And you’re not the only one; 8% of our customers cruise the seven seas solo. Offering a safe and secure environment, the opportunity to visit new destinations as well as experience different cultures and make lifelong friends, a solo cruise is an ideal getaway for solo adventurers.
To help you plan the ultimate trip, we’ve put together a list of every cruise ship with dedicated solo cabins - no single supplement here!
Ambassador Cruise Line burst onto the scene earlier this year with the purpose of pairing premium value with an authentic, friendly cruise experience. Ambience, Ambassador Cruise Line’s flagship, will have 89 cabins when she launches in April 2022.
Celebrity Cruises are known for having its finger on the pulse. With the launch of their first Edge Series ship in 2018, groundbreaking Celebrity Edge, the cruise line introduced solo cabins. Through the lines’ refurbishment programme, Celebrity Revolution℠, Celebrity Silhouette followed suit (or suite). The latest additions, Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Beyond, also feature single-occupancy cabins.
Cunard’s three exceptional ships, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, all have solo cabins (some of the largest in the cruise industry). Solo travellers can enjoy all the usual amenities such as complimentary Penhaligon’s toiletries, a robe and slippers, nightly turndown service and sparkling wine.
Family-owned favourite Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines offers guests a traditional experience from many ports around the UK. Every ship in the cruise lines’ fleet offers solo cabins; Balmoral has 64 and newbies (acquired from Holland America Line) Borealis and Bolette have 47 and 42 respectively.
Holland America Line introduced solo cabins to Koningsdam when she launched in 2016. Following their success, Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam were also designed with solo travellers in mind. The cabins feature all the usual amenities found in a double room including a plush Euro-top mattress and shower with a premium massage head.
Every ship in the P&O Cruises fleet (including the latest addition Arvia) has solo cabins, though they all vary by how many, what types and how large the rooms are. These include the Single Inside Cabin, the Single Sea View Cabin and the Single Balcony Cabin.
Known for its incredible innovation, fascinating features and unmissable itineraries, Royal Caribbean is a cruise line that leads the way. The stand-out Virtual Balcony cabins feature a floor-to-ceiling LED display that projects live images from outside the ship. So, for the first time ever, you can enjoy real-time views from the comfort of your cabin.
