View Cruise DealMilos, a captivating Greek island in the Cyclades, boasts surreal landscapes and pristine beaches. With its volcanic origins, unique rock formations and charming coastal villages, Milos is a paradise for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. Discover its hidden coves, picturesque sunsets and archaeological wonders in this Aegean gem.
Milos is renowned for its stunning and otherworldly beaches, and two of the most extraordinary are Sarakiniko and Papafragas. Sarakiniko Beach, located just a short drive from the port, is a lunar-like landscape of white volcanic rock formations against the backdrop of the deep blue Aegean Sea. The contrast between the bright white rocks and the azure waters creates a surreal and breathtaking setting. You can explore the intricate formations, swim in the crystal-clear waters or simply relax on the smooth rocks.
Milos is not only a paradise for beach lovers but also a destination steeped in history. Near the port, you can explore two significant archaeological sites: the Ancient Catacombs and the Ancient Theater of Milos. The Ancient Catacombs, dating back to the 1st century AD, are among the most important early Christian monuments in Greece. These underground burial chambers were carved into the volcanic rock and served as a place of worship and burial for the early Christians of Milos. The catacombs feature a series of chambers, passages and intricate frescoes that provide valuable insights into the island's religious history.
After a day of exploration, head to the charming village of Plaka, perched on a hilltop near the port, to savour authentic Greek cuisine. Plaka is known for its traditional architecture, narrow streets and panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. Start your culinary journey at one of the village's tavernas, where you can indulge in classic Greek dishes and fresh seafood. Be sure to try local specialities such as "saganaki" (fried cheese), "melitzanosalata" (eggplant dip) and "kleftiko" (slow-cooked lamb).
