Have an unforgettable ferry experience

Few tourists leave Hong Kong without a trip on the Star Ferry, which has been in service in Victoria Harbour for almost 130 years. You’ll travel from the city across to Kowloon; a crossing which National Geographic called one of the world’s top 10 city boat trips. Take the ferry at night to see the skyline illuminated in all its glory, or go at dusk to catch a gorgeous sunset.

Test out your haggling skills

Football shirts jostle for position next to handbags, and souvenirs vie for attention with jewellery at the Ladies’ Market on Packed with people in a veritable riot of colour, there’s more than 100 stalls to browse at in this popular market. Elsewhere, the Temple Street Night Market comes alive after dark, complete with opera singers and fortune tellers. Look out for antiques and jade amongst other treasures, and indulge in some of the delicious street food when you’re all haggled out.

Commemorate Hong Kong’s history

Almost every day at just before 8am, police officers wearing ceremonial uniform raise a flag at Golden Bauhinia Square to celebrate Hong Kong’s reunification with China. It’s an impressive sight, in front of the Forever Blooming Bauhinia Sculpture and with the harbour as a backdrop. Close by is the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, a striking landmark which was featured in the film New Police Story.

Enjoy thrills and spills across the city

A vast array of fun and exciting attractions can be found in Hong Kong. You can take a Jungle River Cruise at the city’s own Disneyland, or check out Ani-Com Park to find out more about Hong Kong’s proud comic tradition. On Ma Wan Island there’s a full sized replica of Noah’s Ark, with 67 pairs of life-sized animal sculptures, or you can take in incredible views at The Peak, the highest point on Hong Kong Island.
