Refurbished in 2016, MS Polarlys features a modern, Arctic-inspired design. The world polarlys is Norwegian for ‘polar light’ (or the aurora borealis, as they are more commonly known), the special Arctic phenomenon that many guests seek when travelling aboard this beautiful ship.

View Cruise DealThe 619-passenger MS Polarlys joined the Hurtigruten Coastal Express fleet in 1996. She is most loved for her port intense itineraries.
Cabins on MS Polarlys feature an Arctic-inspired interior. There are several categories of accommodation; Interior, Ocean View, Polar Outside, Accessible, Arctic Superior, Mini Suite and Suite. All include a phone, a spacious wardrobe, a comfortable bed, a fixed desk and an en suite.
Dining on MS Polarlys is exceptional. The main dining room on Deck 4, Torget, offers outstanding cuisine at every meal. Served in both a buffet-style and as an occasional three-course, waiter-served dinner, you’ll dine on exceptionally fresh food such as fish that has been caught from the waters you sail in.
Kysten on Deck 4 is Hurtigruten’s take on fine dining. Norwegian cuisine at its best, Kysten offers an a la carte menu every evening apart from King Crab Night when you can indulge in prosecco and delicious seafood. Here, you’ll also find an extensive wine list with suggested pairings. All in all, Kysten is a lovely experience.
Located next to Kysten, Brygga is a perfect pit stop for a light lunch, selling open sandwiches, snacks and alcoholic beverages from 1 pm onwards. Multe, situated at the top of the ship, offers fantastic views of the everchanging scenery thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows. Like Brygga, it serves open sandwiches as well as speciality coffees, pastries and ice cream. For an afternoon pick-me-up, head to Multe for apple pie and a hot chocolate.
A cruise on MS Polarlys is all about shore excursions. Depending on the time of year, you could hike through the mountains, sledge with huskies or go cross-country skiing, sightseeing through fjords, visit farms or go on city tours. The majority of your shore excursions will be guided by the onboard Expedition Team. Serving as a university at sea, the Expedition Team host interesting lectures inside as well as out on the sun deck, making your voyage as exciting and educational as possible.
While out on the sun deck, you can watch local wildlife as you pass the changing landscape. The beauty of sailing along the Norwegian coastline is that you never know what you might see; the freezing Arctic waters and the Gulf Stream attract an abundance of migratory species such as dolphins and whales.
MS Polarlys sails her guests to Norway.
