ROL Cruise recommends…

Stroll along the elegant waterfront on a cruise to Agadir

A short walk from the commercial harbour is Agadir’s billion-dirham marina, where pristine white holiday apartments overlook rows of enviable yachts. Enjoy a leisurely stroll amidst luxury surroundings on your cruise to Agadir, then browse the stylish boutiques for Moroccan treasures and local souvenirs. Pop into one of the friendly cafés for a bite to eat, or indulge your sweet tooth with a delectable and refreshing ice cream.

Laid-back beach life

It’s easy to see why Agadir has become Morocco’s main beach resort; its golden bay stretches for several miles and is backed by a spacious seafront promenade that is brimming with activity. Hire a jet ski or dune buggy for an exciting way to explore the area as part of your Agadir cruise, or travel by tourist train or camel for a more relaxed adventure. Sunbathe atop soft sands as the waves of the North Atlantic break rhythmically on the shore before watching local street performers along the palm-lined boulevard.

Go souvenir shopping on your Agadir cruise

Haggling at a Moroccan market stall is a must for an all-round experience on your cruise to Agadir, so head to the impressive Souk El Had d’Agadir to do just that. With numerous small shops, this is the largest market in the region and boasts an array of desirable products. Take in the vibrant sights and heady scents of spices and leather goods as you browse handmade furniture, artisan clothing, fresh food and traditional decorations. For more unique finds within a traditional Berber setting, consider a trip to La Médina at Ben Sergao.

Historic Ruins

In 1960 the ancient city of Casbah was devastated by an earthquake that recorded a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale. The fortress, built atop a hill in 1572, was almost completely destroyed and a third of its population lost their lives. Visit the remains at its former site during your Agadir cruise for exceptional views over the bay and city, plus the original inscription above the front door, which reads ‘Fear God and honour the King’. The grassy mound of Ancienne Talborjt is a chilling memorial.
